This annual event is the un-official kick off to summer in Lake Forest and is one of the Friends’ largest fundraisers. It is held at Deerpath Golf Course, one of Lake Forest’s finest Park & Recreation facilities. The Classic is typically held on the Friday closets to the 1st of June with a shotgun start at Noon. Lunch and plenty of refreshments are served throughout the day and there are lots of on-course contests to challenge any level of golfer. Since the Classic is a scramble format, it is a fun day for people of all skill levels and, at only $150/golfer, it is one of the best golf deals in town!

Who is Fred Jackson?
The Classic was re-named the Fred Jackson Golf Classic in 2007 in honor of Fred’s 43 years of service to our Parks & Recreation Department, 38 of them as its Executive Director. Fred was also a founder of Friends and one of our proud Boardmembers. (and by the way, the Classic is an honorarium and not a memorial to Fred! In fact, we expect him to grace our fairways for many, many years to come!)
